Brian Ploeger, a master trumpeter with over four decades of experience, set to appear at Hoffman Music on Saturday March 1st, 2025 11AM - 12:30PM. Ploeger's impressive resume includes a B.A. in music from Whitworth University, an M.A. in music from Eastern Washington University, and teaching and directing jazz bands at EWU, WSU, SFCC, and Whitworth. A Downbeat award winning jazz trumpet soloist, Brian has toured internationally, recorded professionally, and played with famous musicians and bands such as Maynard Ferguson and his Big Bop Nouveau band, the world famous Glenn Miller Orchestra, Lionel Hampton, Gene Krupa, Jimmy Dorsey, Bob Curnow, Spokane Jazz Orchestra, among many others. Equally at home playing lead and solo trumpet, Mr. Ploeger has performed in show bands and jazz groups on Carnival and Royal Caribbean cruise lines for over seven years. Brian has studied trumpet with Lew Soloff, Byron Strypling, Uan Rasey, Charlie Davis, Scott Wenholdt and Dan Keberle. At the event, Ploeger will share his expertise on music. Topics to be covered will include breathing, posture, musical style, playing in a section, lead playing, improvisation, how to practice, what to practice, choosing the right equipment (mouthpiece and trumpet) and all things trumpet, making it a must-attend for all enthusiastic brass players.
